Sketching Senses Along the Lagoon Trail
Join Headlands alum Aidan Koch (AIR ‘24) for an artist-led hike along the Lagoon Trail in the Marin Headlands.
The artist will lead participants through several short observational drawing exercises along the trail. The exercises are designed to expand on ideas of landscape and perception.
Participants will meet in The Commons at 12PM before beginning the hike. The program will be approximately from 12-1PM.
About the Lagoon Trail
The Marin Headlands Rodeo Lagoon Trail is a scenic 2-mile loop (or out-and-back hike) from the Headlands Center for the Arts. The trail is mostly flat, with approximately 111 feet of elevation gain, and follows the lagoon toward Rodeo Beach.
Conditions near the coast can be windy, so we recommend dressing in layers and wearing comfortable walking or hiking shoes. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash.
Accessibility & Engagement
-No prior art experience required.
-Participants are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and drawing materials. Headlands will have a limited number of pocket notebooks and pencils available.
-Open to adults and children aged twelve and up.

The hike will take place outdoors along the Lagoon Trail, which has a dirt and gravel surface with uneven terrain and gentle inclines. The trail may be difficult to navigate using mobility aids.
