Join us Sunday, February 12, for a reception marking the conclusion of our 40th anniversary celebrations with the opening of Process + Place: Mark Thompson, Semaphore, and Headlands’ satellite installation of Ann Hamilton’s adjacent project Process + Place: Ann Hamilton, here • there • then • now. Hamilton’s project includes a performance featuring accordion players Ani Ivry-Block and Jonathan Kipp.

A lifelong beekeeper, Thompson’s Semaphore harkens back to key works in the Artist’s oeuvre featuring collaboration with living beehives, and transforms the Gym into a multi-sensory installation utilizing sound, video, architectural intervention, and beeswax. With its tight focus and abstracted interplay between human and swarm, Semaphore speaks to the cyclical nature of time and the possibilities of inter-species communication.

This event takes place in the Gym and the second floor of Building 944. The second floor of 944 is currently accessible only by stairs. Due to maintenance work on Building 945, there is no restroom meeting accessibility standards available for this event.
