Artists Rachel Mayeri and Laurel Braitman (AFF ’11) discuss human perceptions of animals, and animals’ perceptions of themselves and other species. Mayeri will screen her multi-stage project, Primate Cinema, in which a video of humans emulating ape behavior is shown to a group of chimpanzees at the Edinburgh Zoo; Braitman will share aspects of her research on the history of mental illness in other animals (from dolphins to dogs), and what it means to be human– the subject of her forthcoming book Animal Madness. Continue the discussion with us over dinner in the Mess Hall.
