While at Headlands
I hope to use my time at the Headlands to work primarily on a novel. This moment marks a turning point for me in my work as a writer, away from a more outwardly focus on nonfiction towards the gray area where fact ends and fiction begins. The novel will follow from my first just-completed book (a truthful but not factual work that explores the silence of a generation), to examine (through a story set in Alexandria) the fraught space of “making” in a country where art and politics are intertwined.
