Artist Statement
I’m a poet and interdisciplinary artist who creates work through a practice of ritual and repetition. My projects return to obsession, devotion, desire, and the material body, often shaped by questions of power and exchange.
While at Headlands
While at Headlands, I’ll be writing a book of poems and hybrid forms focused on my early twenties, a time shaped by itinerant travel and sex work, through the world of Craigslist’s Casual Encounters before the passage of SESTA/FOSTA. I’m interested in how a fragmented accumulation of encounters, testimony, archival material, and collage can create a kind of antimemoir. I want to continue exploring how the summarizing tendency of traditional literary forms fails to countenance the lived experience of queer life, often existing on peripheries or in precarious states.
