Artists Statement
I am fascinated with cellular structures, scientific renderings and physiology. The body is a starting point for examining how I digest different experiences and it functions as an interface between material and concept.
I often choose inorganic and mass-produced, utilitarian products that come in close contact with the body. I am drawn to consumer goods because I am interested in the micro and macro consequences of what we consume, and inversely, what consumes us.
While at Headlands
My work is informed by the environment I live and work in. During my residency I will create work that draws inspiration from the surrounding nature of the Headlands. I plan to use this time to experiment with materials like nail polish, sandwich bags, Ace bandages, sand, plastic table covers and acrylic paint to create objects that physically explore the space I am working in.
