Artist in Residence Program 2013
Our practice is very much influenced by the environments in which we work. Space, texture and landscape are among many elements evoked in various ways in our image and sound-based projects, where performance processes that include improvisation and building upon the unexpected, are at the center of our work. In a sense, there’s little attempt to bring the two forms of image and sound together. Instead, these forms are allowed to progress along parallel trails upon which the audience is invited to travel, in whichever way they intuit the work to suggest.
While at Headlands
While at the Headlands, we will be creating a series of films, videos, installations and live performances, combining image and sound that will serve to re-contextualize and reinterpret the environment of the Center and the surrounding Headlands. Our residency will be spent documenting and interpreting the elements specific to this environment, including the fauna, animal and insect life unique to the landscape, as well as the sound, architecture, and residents, making the Headlands itself the centerpiece of our work. The completed project will be a kind of performed, projected and exhibited catalog or diary reflecting our collaboration within the singular space of The Headlands.
