Los Angeles-based painter Monica Majoli's work is engaged in issues of identity, intimacy, and mortality. She states, "while the figural compositions explicitly depict sexual encounters, the primary focus of both the sexual scenarios and body fragments has been on the psychological aspects of physical experience. The underlying content of my work is the quest for emotional closeness and connection." Majoli received her MFA and BA from UCLA. In 2001, Majoli received a Richard C. Diebenkorn Teaching Fellowship, an honor granted by the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) that includes a cash award, teaching two courses at SFAI and a residency at Headlands Center for the Arts. A teacher at Universities throughout California, she has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and internationally. In addition to participating in the Whitney Biennial (2006), she has recently had a solo exhibition at Gagosian Gallery, New York. |

Shaun O'Dell is a painter, illustrator, musician, and videographer who explores the intertwining of the human and natural orders. The symbolic lexicon in his work conveys an autobiographical mapping of mythic narratives about humans, nature, time, and the development of cultural and nationalistic ideologies. He examines how America's long-time addiction to the technological and ideological suppression of wilderness has contributed to the evolution of American myth, psyche, and tyranny. O'Dell has exhibited his work at many venues, including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Sonoma Museum of Art, and the Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. His work is held in the permanent collections of the di Rosa Preserve and the Berkeley Art Museum. O'Dell received his BA from the New College of California and his MFA from Stanford. He was a recipient of the 2004 SECA Award and a 2002 Project Space residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts.
