Headlands is notorious for bringing together forward-thinking artists who work in radically different ways, with the ethos that these differences spark and inspire creativity. 2009 AIRs Jesse Bercowetz & Matt Bua and Isola & Norzi each work within a collaborative structure to create installation work, but the results are radically different. Bercowetz and Bua create engulfing environments and complex contraptions that stem from invented mythologies, while Isola & Norzi approach sculpture and installation with a sense of quiet contemplation. This program is an opportunity to explore the immersive sculptural works created by both pairs of artists, and to engage in a dialogue around collaborative practice and disparate artistic strategies.
