Sunday, September 19, 6PM Learn more
Building 944 | $30 – $50 sliding scale

Organized by Chez Panisse chef and artist Jerome Waag and curator Joseph del Pesco, The Feral Share is an evening of gastronomic philanthropy. The cost of a meal, paid into the coffer by each dinner guest, will be transformed into funding for artists’ projects. In addition to serving as micro-funder, each dinner guest doubles as a member of the selection jury and will be asked to cast a vote for two artists from a group of twelve. The evening includes a menu drawing from wild and surplus sources, brief artist presentations, and a debate about issues ranging from food to politics.

A day-long investigation of alternative cartographies by artists, writers, activists, and you. Free, open-to-the-public activities throughout the afternoon include projections of maps from Rebecca Solnit’s new, collaborative book project Infinite City: A San Francisco Atlas. In the Project Space studios, Seher Shah’s drawings use architectural space as a metaphor for interior worlds and also deal with the idea of objects as intrusions in landscapes, while Richard T. Walker provides visitors unique perspectives on the vistas available from the studio. From 2 – 3:30PM, Rebecca Solnit presents Infinite City: Mapping Trees, Love, Time, Butterflies, Salmon, Zen, and Practically Everything Else in San Francisco. Solnit will discuss the Atlas project and join naturalist Derek Hitchcock and others in a conversation about Map #20, which pairs the topics of Bay Area salmon migration and the spread of Soto Zen Buddhism through the region and beyond. Purchase tickets for the 2PM presentation online at Brown Paper Tickets.
