Headlands has invited artists Amy Franceschini (AIR ’03) and Michael Swaine (AIR ’03) to create our first site-specific commissioned artwork in twenty years. A large-scale planter box is being constructed adjacent to Headlands’ kitchen, to produce edible savory herbs for use in our dinner program. This artwork is a resource for renewable, locally grown food, while literally nourishing our artist community. The work further resonates with our campus of repurposed military buildings, relating to a historic movement during World Wars I and II when our site was still an active Army base. Collaborators, including permiculturist Arcangelo Wessels, writer Cooley Windsor (AIR ’00), and curator Clare Haggarty will also participate.

*Have you dined at Headlands? The public is invited to a sumptuous and family-friendly dinner at Headlands' Mess Hall at 6PM on June 26 in conjunction with the artist talk. Headlands' Chef, Juliette Delventhal, strives to use only the finest, locally grown, organic ingredients. Dinner is just $20 per person ($15 for Headlands Members).
