Auction Guidelines
Bidding
Each bidder will receive a numbered auction catalog that will serve as his/her bidding paddle. All guests attending the auction must pre-register with a credit card in order to obtain a bidder identification number. A bid number is required to participate in the Auction.
All items are subject to a minimum starting bid. Your bid, oral or written, constitutes a legal contract.
No artwork will be sold for less then the minimum bid amount outlined in the catalog or reserve price established by the donor.
Each item is auctioned as-is, without warranty.
All sales are final.
Winning Bid
The buyer submitting the highest bid will be the winning bid.
Check Out
To pay for and pick-up your artwork at the event, please see the cashier. All transactions must be completed at the conclusion of the Benefit Auction and works should be taken home that evening. If you are an absentee bidder or leave the event before the close of a lot and your bid is the winning bid, Headlands will automatically charge the credit card on file. We will call you within 48 hours to confirm your purchase and to make arrangements for pick up or delivery of the artwork.
Forms of Payment
Accepted payments include: cash, check, MasterCard or Visa. Other credit cards will not be accepted. An 8.5 percent San Francisco sales tax will be applied to all in-state purchases. A “paid” receipt is required to remove any item from the premises.
Transport
Successful bidders should make arrangements for removal or shipment of their purchases on the night of the auction. Buyers are strongly encouraged to take their work home with them that evening. If the work is too large to transport on auction night, Headlands will assist with delivery arrangements. All arrangements and expenses for storage and/or delivery are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Items may be shipped via FedEx for a minimum charge of $50 or more depending on weight and size. Alternative Art handling services are available at the expense of the winning bidder. Packing, handling, and shipping of purchased artworks are the entire risk of the buyer.
Absentee Bidding
Absentee Bids are accepted for all items. Absentee bidders may submit a maximum bid and/or may choose to be on the phone with a Headlands representative so they may bid in real time on auction night.
