Francesca DiMattio populates her paintings with an eclectic mix of architectural elements, employing perspective and scale to create seemingly chaotic imagery that blurs the lines between creation and destruction; the beautiful and the grotesque. Her paintings have been featured in group exhibitions including the 185th Annual Invitation Exhibition of Contemporary American Art, National Academy, New York (2010); 7:10, The National Arts Club, New York (2010); Abstract America, The Saatchi Gallery, London (2009); Master of Reality, Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts (2009); and Size Matters: XXL, Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, New York (2007). Recent solo exhibitions include Decollage at Locust Projects, Miami (2009); Unhinged at LAXART, Los Angeles (2007), and at Salon 94 in New York (2006 and 2009). DiMattio received her BFA from Cooper Union and MFA from Columbia University in 2005. She lives and works in New York.
