David Maisel (AIR ’08) creates photographs that present landscape as an archetypal space of destruction mirroring aspects of human consciousness. Maisel’s photographs are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Brooklyn Museum of Art; and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. His Library of Dust monograph was published by Chronicle Books in 2008. Maisel received his BA from Princeton University, and his MFA from the California College of the Arts, in addition to study at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is based in Sausalito.
