Chris McCaw’s recent work explores the process of solarization and tests the boundaries of analog photography. During exposure, the sun streams into the camera, literally burning its path into the final unique paper negative. Recent exhibitions include Sun Works, a two-person exhibition with McCaw and Sarah Charlesworth at the Berkeley Art Museum, and Emerging at the Portland Art Museum. McCaw’s work is included in several museum collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others. McCaw earned his BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where he continues to live and work.
