Jessamyn Lovell is just finishing work on Catastrophe, Crisis, and Other Family Traditions, a ten-year documentary photography project about her family based in Syracuse, NY, where she grew up. She is the recipient of many awards including the 2007 Aperture Portfolio Prize, and  has gained recognition and support from such institutions as the SFMOMA, Magnum Photos, Light Work, Richmond Art Center, and SF Camerawork. She received a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MFA from California College of the Arts.
