Margaret Kilgallen (1967–2001) was a central figure in the San Francisco Mission School whose work demonstrated the profound influence of folk art traditions. She was included in the first Bay Area Now exhibition at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and featured in a solo show at The Drawing Center, New York. With Barry McGee, she exhibited at the UCLA Hammer Museum before her death in 2001. Posthumously, she was included in major exhibitions including the 2002 Whitney Biennial. She received a BA in Printmaking from Colorado College and an MFA from Stanford University.
