Michael Meyers’ drawings, sculptures, and performance art comment on the mysterious patterns of the universe, his forms inhabiting the realms of real material and speculative sketch. They are part tool and part ritual altarpiece, conjuring an analogy to a cosmic clockworker. Meyers joined John Ingle for his multidisciplinary performance/concert HEREMUSIC at Headlands in 2000, and later shared the bowling alley studio below the Headlands Gym as an Affiliate Artist with Dylan Bolles and Nathan Lynch, where he presented a site specific performance in 2003 entitled Gutterball. He has collaborated in projects at the Whitney Museum of American Art (for SILT’s 2002 Biennial performance) and at the Lyon Opera Ballet (a set design for Trisha Brown’s Set/Reset), and has exhibited his work at Thomas Welton Stanford Art Gallery, Oakland Art Gallery, and Johansson Projects in Oakland. He lives and works in Oakland.
