Amalia Pica’s (AIR ’12) wide-ranging practice includes sculpture, photography, drawing, film, installation, and performance. Her works often explore the idea of enunciation and the performative nature of thought and speech. Motivated by a desire for civic participation, Pica’s work occasionally takes the form of temporary interventions into public space. Born in Neuquén, Argentina, she studied sculpture at ENBAPP in Buenos Aires and completed a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. She has exhibited internationally at the Venice Biennale, Incheon Biennale, Aichi Triennale, Malmö Konsthall, and Modern Art Oxford. Current and upcoming exhibitions include The List Visual Arts Center in Cambridge and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. Pica lives and works in London.
