Theresa Wong is a composer, cellist and vocalist who combines musical training and traditions with new forms of installation and performance. Her practice is interdisciplinary and highly collaborative, oscillating freely between the structure of composition and the fluidity of improvisation. This flexibility also speaks to a conscious effort to question and dissolve hierarchies between composers, conductors and musicians. She is currently interested in further exploring how these dichotomies can be broken through researching and conceiving a site-specific, “improvised opera” while in residence at Headlands. Wong received an MFA in cello performance and improvisation from Mills College and a BS in product design from Stanford University.
